Gingerbread Laptop for the Geeky Crowd

Who says you have to make a gingerbread house? This supremely clever laptop pic has been all over the web. It was created sometime around 2004 and I've seen it on Random Connections via Engadget via MediaTinker. Rolling out the basic gingerbread slabs would be a snap, but keeping a steady hand while piping all that keyboard detail would be challenging. I especially like the mouse with its big ears. 

Modern Take on Gingerbread at the Cleveland Botanical Garden

Funny how most gingerbread creations are of a traditional flavor ... and I don't mean their taste or smell. Gingerbread architecture mostly leans toward the past. Victorian cottages, log cabins, farmhouses, castles, and barns. That's why it's so much fun to run across modern and even futuristic pieces. 

This clever and well-made "Gingerbread Tower of Packages" was one of the impressive entries in the 2007 Cleveland Botanical Garden Gingerbread House Competition. Part of their winter holiday festivities, the gingerbread goodies are shown on the About.com: Cleveland page.

Evil LED Gingerbread Beast

Whoa. If you're looking to do something different with gingerbread, you may be interested in this strange beast lurking at Teeny Manolo. I saw this design last Christmas season and was blown away by the creative approach that adds a definite tinge of evil to the otherwise happy world of gingerbread. This clever creation came to Teeny Manolo by way of Craftzine and WeMakeMoneyNotArt  from the Kitchen Budapest catalog, which offers PDF instructions. Wow, it's been all over the place!
