It's time for the 3rd Annual Houses of Hope Gingerbread House Contest benefiting Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati. According to the website, deadline for registration is November 16. Entries will be judged on overall appearance, originality/creativity, difficulty, precision, and consistency of theme. Access the contest registration form here.
For 2009, it looks like there's an award for best depiction of a tri-state structure. I wonder if anyone's ever tackled Cincinnati Union Terminal in gingerbread? Talk about a challenge! You can browse through the website to see photos of past entries organized by division. Houses will be displayed at the Shrine Center of Cincinnati at 217 William Howard Taft Rd. Proceeds from this event are certainly going to a good cause, as I had the opportunity to tour the Shriners Burns Hospital in Cincinnati many years ago, just prior to its opening, and it was and is an impressive place.
To answer your question, we saw more than one Union Terminal in gingerbread last year.
